Introduction to and instruction in the use of the handgun for target shooting. Major emphasis is placed on safety resulting from a thorough understanding of the operation of the firearm and the personal responsibility of each individual on the range. Class meets off campus at the Tompkins County Fish and Game Club (transportation to and from not provided).

    Course fee: $385. New York State Law requires that all participants MUST be United States citizens and/or currently registered Cornell students to take shooting classes. First class meeting is in Barton Hall. All subsequent classes meet off campus at the Tompkins County Fish and Game Club range, to which you must arrange your own transportation. Attendance for the first two classes is mandatory for safety reasons! If either or both of these classes are missed, the student may no longer continue to attend. The student must go to the Physical Education office and drop the course.
    Drop Deadline: Thursday, February 6, 2025. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline. For policies pertaining to Physical Education courses, please visit https://scl.cornell.edu/pe/policies.
