Course Description
Course information provided by the 2023-2024 Catalog.
Readings may include short stories, a novel, praise poetry, historical texts, or contemporary political speeches, depending on student interests. Study of issues of language policy and use in contemporary South Africa; introduction to the Soweto dialect of isiZulu. Students are prepared for extended research in South Africa involving interviews with isiZulu speakers.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: WOLOF 3113 or permission of instructor.

Instruction Mode: Distance Learning-Synchronous
Prerequisite: ZULU 3113 or equivalent. This course is part of the Shared Course Initiative (SCI) and at times may include students from Columbia and/or Yale Universities using videoconferencing technology.
