NS 6300
Course Description
Course information provided by the 2023-2024 Catalog.
This course will introduce the concepts of big data analysis in the context of transcriptomics and proteomics with a focus on metabolic regulatory networks. Programming in Python will be used, but no prior experience is necessary. Programming will focus on methods to parse large data sets, perform informatics analyses, and build machine learning models. Prior courses in biology and biochemistry are prerequisites. Students must own or have personal access with administrative privileges to a computer with Windows 10 or MacOS 10.14 (or more recent).
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: at least one of the following courses: BIOMG 1350, BIOG 1440, NS 3200, BIOMG 3300, STSCI 2150, PUBPOL 2100, or AEM 2100.
Permission Note Enrollment limited to: undergraduate seniors, juniors and graduate students.

Instruction Mode: In Person
Prerequisite: one semester introductory biology lecture (BIOMG 1350, BIOG 1440, or equivalent), biochemistry (NS 3200, BIOMG 3300, or equivalent), and introductory statistics (STSCI 2150, PAM 2100, AEM 2100, or equivalent).
