Investment Banking Immersion/Practicum

The Investment Banking Immersion Practicum is structured to provide students with "real world" investment banking experience in an academic environment. Students, working in teams, will play the role of investment bankers throughout the semester. Assignments will be structured in the form of client pitch-book presentations, which will generally be presented during class. Students will be exposed to, and will develop a working understanding of, all aspects of the capital raising and merger & acquisition processes.


Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: NCC 5060 with grade of B or better.

Permission Note Enrollment restricted to first-year full-time MBA students pursuing a career in investment banking. Inappropriate for students interested in following a finance career in non-financial industry or non-finance careers (including consulting).

    Course meets in Breazzano LL23 on Mondays at 4:25pm. Enrollment limited to: Johnson IBI Immersion Students Only. BETWEEN Monday, November 1 and Friday, January 7 at 4:30pm: you must contact the Registrar’s Office at gm-registrar@cornell.edu for space availability in another immersion. You will then be able to make optional elective changes during the Spring 2022 Add/Drop period in January. As of Friday, January 7th at 4:31pm: if you choose to change your immersion, you will be charged a $500 late drop fee and will only be able to switch to the Customized Immersion. There will be no enrollment from a wait list into a class if you have a time conflict or if it will create an overload. Students dropping this course after the deadline will be assessed a fee of $500. This course is a Management Science Elective.
