CHEM 7880

Course information provided by the 2021-2022 Catalog.

Course will cover: 1) the physics of scattering and image formation, 2) macromolecular crystallography, 3) small-angle X-ray scattering, and 4) cryo-electron microscopy. Students will learn the theoretical principles of structural biology and gain practical experience with modern methods in data processing, structure determination, refinement, validation, and interpretation.


Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: two semesters of college-level calculus (MATH 1110 and MATH 1120, 4 AP credits and MATH 1910, or equivalent courses taken elsewhere) and two semesters of college-level physics (PHYS 1101 and 1102, PHYS 2207 and 2208, PHYS 1112 and 2213, PHYS 1116 and 2217, or equivalent courses taken elsewhere).
