Reviews theories and research on communication and social networks in groups, organizations, and communities. Students will learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret social network data using UCINET.

Outcomes

  • Students will be able to develop basic knowledge about key theories that have been developed to explain the development and maintenance of social networks
  • Students will be able to develop critical thinking and analytic abilities as students uncover contradictory predictions across theories
  • Students will be able to develop creative thinking ability as students explore ways to resolve differences across theories that make contradictory predictions
