Course Description

This course provides intensive instruction in professional writing for non-native English speakers at CIPA. The overall objective of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities in professional writing that are necessary to succeed in MPA coursework and beyond. The course also explores cultural considerations that impact academic success at Cornell and CIPA.
Outcomes
- To understand user-centered design and awareness of rhetorical patterns relative to professional writing tasks.
- Analyze audiences using appropriate tone.
- Use parallel structure, headings, typographies, and spacing.
- Develop a variety of professional documents and methods for revision.
