This course explores firm strategies related to innovation and technological change through independent case research. We focus on how the commercial success of technological innovations—new products, processes, and services—depends on the firm's business model. Other key topics include intellectual property rights and the management of technological uncertainty through organizational arrangements such as corporate venturing, spinoffs, crowdsourcing and alliances.


Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: AEM 2200, AEM 2600, AEM 2601 or equivalents.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of management under high uncertainty
  • Improve their oral and written expression through intense class discussion and writing assignments
