Materials properties typically limit the performance that can be achieved in generation, transport, and utilization of energy. This lab course will supplement lecture-based understanding with experiential learning. Materials issues in photovoltaic, fuel cell, battery, transportation, and lighting systems will be studied by characterizing electrical, magnetic, chemical, optical, and mechanical properties of materials.


Prerequisites/Corequisites Corequisite: MSE 1140/ENGRI 1140.
