Digital and physical games designed to address social and political issues are sometime called 'Serious Games' or 'Games for Change' or 'Newsgames' and they address a broad range of issues and domains, from education to health to civic engagement and human rights. These are games that help kids and adults around the world become more thoughtful, responsible and committed citizens through play. In recent years, game developers and change-makers are bringing an increasingly diverse (and sometimes divergent) set of lenses, approaches, and models of change to this work, creating a complex ecosystem of games that teach, games that express, and games that provoke.
