Materials properties typically limit the performance that can be achieved in generation, transport, and utilization of energy. This lab course will supplement lecture-based understanding with experiential learning. Materials issues in photovoltaic, fuel cell, battery, transportation, and lighting will be studied by characterizing electrical, magnetic, chemical, optical, and mechanical properties of materials.


Prerequisites/Corequisites Co-requisite: MSE 1140/ENGRI 1140.
