MAE 6430

MAE 6430

Course information provided by the 2015-2016 Catalog.

Examines laminar and turbulent flames and fundamental chemical and transport processes involved. Emphasis is on using computational tools to calculate flame properties, which are compared to experimental data. Topics include thermodynamic equilibrium, chemical kinetics, reactor studies, conservation equations, transport properties, laminar premixed and non-premixed flames, turbulence modeling, and common approaches to turbulent combustion modeling. A knowledge of combustion at the level of MAE 5430, Combustion Processes, is useful but not required.
