Course Description
Course information provided by the 2015-2016 Catalog.
The course will focus on the transnational investigation and prosecution of international cartels by competition law enforcement agencies such as the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission. Although significant attention will be given to US and EU law, the laws and procedures of other jurisdictions will be discussed as well. Institutional enforcement models, the movement toward criminalization, leniency programs, the growth of international cooperation among enforcement agencies, as well as the investigative processes will be examined.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Recommeded prerequisite: an introductory course in antitrust law. Students without this background may need to do some additional readings during the second week of the course when the basics of horizontal concerted action will be reviewed.
