Course Description
Course information provided by the 2015-2016 Catalog.
This lecture series presented by faculty and experts in their disciplines is intended to introduce undergraduate students to the requirements that lead to a successful start-up company. Topics in the series include developing and honing your idea, developing a problem statement and value proposition, protecting intellectual property, sources of funding, business structures, the regulatory environment and making a successful pitch.
Outcomes
- Students will be able to explain the complexities involved in creating a start-up business in bio-technology and the life sciences.
- Students will be able to identify if their technology can become intellectual property.
- Students will become conversant with dilutive and non-dilutive funding sources.
- Students will be able to articulate their idea in a clear and concise fashion and develop an appropriate value proposition.
- Students will be able to identify and seek assistance from faculty members throughout the University who have knowledge and skills within the entrepreneurship arena to advance their ideas.
