This course seeks to explore the cultural and linguistic diversity of Spain by analyzing literary texts from regions that still remain in the periphery of Peninsular studies:  Catalonia, Basque Country, and Galicia.  We will examine how identities are shaped and contested in Spain by discussing the works of authors such as Kirmen Uribe, Maria Barbal, Carme Riera, Bernardo Atzaga, and Suso de Toro.
