This course provides an overview of the key management issues facing the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.  The course perspective is global, with an emphasis on the U.S. as the largest and most profitable market.

Outcomes

  • Understand how biotech/pharmaceutical companies develop, price, and market their products.
  • Understand how public and private health insurers manage the use and price of prescription drugs, and why.
  • Examine how other high-income countries regulate the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Examine the challenges and rewards of selling prescription drugs in emerging and developing countries.
