Readings and discussion of representative texts of the 19th and 20th centuries from various regions of Latin America. Among the authors considered are Sarmiento, Hernandez, Marti, Dario, Agustini, Cortazar, Garcia Marquez, Poniatowska, and Valenzuela.
Prerequisites REF-FA25/Corequisites REF-FA25 SPAN 2095, or CASE Q++. Corequisites: None.

Prerequisite: SPAN 2095 or Q++ on Cornell Advanced Standing Exam (CASE) exam, or permission of instructor. Students may take SPAN 2140, SPAN 2150, or SPAN 2170 concurrently. This is a core course for the major.
