Learn the fundamentals of kayaking in the controlled environment of the pool. This course will give you a solid progression of skills that will be easily transferable to an open water or river experience. Learn and practice a wide range of skills in whitewater kayaks including fundamental paddling strokes, bracing, rolling and boat handling skills like edging and carving. Paddling games and focused exercises will provide a fun and interactive group learning experience.


Fees REF-FA25 $325 (). For instruction and all paddling equipment.

    Course fee: $325.Classes will take place at Helen Newman Swimming pool. Prerequisite: recreational swimmer. Please note that this class may conflict with your prelim schedule. Be sure to check your prelim schedule against this classes schedule for conflicts. All paddling equipment is provided!
    Drop Deadline: Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
