Quantitative Methods 1

Course Description

Course information provided by the 2023-2024 Catalog. Courses of Study 2023-2024 is scheduled to publish mid-June.

This course is developed as an introduction to graduate statistics for social sciences. It will review descriptive statistics and probability theory. It will cover exploratory data analysis, basic inferential statistics with a focus on analyses for experimental designs, e.g. ANOVA models. No costs other than textbooks are incurred. 

Outcomes

• You will be able to read in data and manipulate it if necessary using R. The use of other software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, JASP) is allowed in this course, but we will only be teaching R.
• You will be able to graphically probe datasets for patterns and extract quantitative, descriptive statistics from data.
• You will be able to apply appropriate inferential statistics.
