An introduction to feedback control design for discrete-time systems. The objective is to design a feedback control system that achieves a response to a step input providing zero asymptotic tracking error and satisfying transient response specifications on percent overshoot, settling time, and peak time. Emphasis will be placed on algorithmic solutions to the design problem once the transient performance specifications have been translated to desired closed-loop pole locations, i.e. algebraic design and state space design.
