Course Description
Course information provided by the 2017-2018 Catalog.
The course aims to provide students with a broad understanding of risk management problems and solutions, a greater appreciation of the importance of risk and how the policy environment shapes risk, and increased comprehension of the complexities of decision-making about risk.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: ECON 1110 and a statistics course.
Outcomes
- Students will gain an understanding of the statistical foundations of insurance and risk transfer.
- Students will gain the capacity to analyze risk and the importance of risk.
- Students will gain a working knowledge of important terminology and institutions related to risk management.
- Students will gain familiarity with specific risks and risk management tools; and an appreciation for the large role of government in managing risk.
