Instruction Mode: In Person
The topic will be Calculus of Variations. As time permits: The direct method for scalar and vector-valued minimization problems, constraints, existence theorems in nonlinear elasticity, Gamma convergence with applications. We will use books by Evans, Dacorogna, Ciarlet and Attouch et. al., as sources. Prerequisite: MATH 6160 (formerly MATH 6200), or equivalent.
