Course Description
Course information provided by the 2017-2018 Catalog.
Introduces modern symbolic manipulator programs, such as Mathematica and Maple, for students of quantitative disciplines. It will be offered as an elective in astronomy. The course will cover language concepts, programming tools and techniques necessary to use these applications efficiently. It will draw examples from a wide variety of fields including mathematics, astronomy, physics, engineering, biology, statistics, finance, and the general topic of big data. The aim is to acquaint students with the integrated symbolic, numerical, and graphical capabilities that then may be applied to individual areas of interest.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: Calculus.
