Course Description
Course information provided by the 2016-2017 Catalog.
The course will survey the trajectory of lifespan human development. It will start with some of the history, theories, and research strategies in the field, and then proceed to a chronological account of human development. This account will start with genetic and environmental foundations of development, and proceed to prenatal development, birth, infancy, toddlerhood, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, late adulthood, and death.
Outcomes
- Compare and contrast alternative approaches to, and theories of, human development.
- Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of existing ways of assessing of human development.
- Evaluate claims regarding group differences in human development, for example, males vs. females.
- Apply what one has learned about human development to one's work and home life.
- Critique research in the field of human development.
