SPAN 4460

Course information provided by the 2015-2016 Catalog.

This course will introduce newcomers as well as long-term aficionados to the work of Jorge Luis Borges.  We will focus on his short stories and a selection of essays in order to zoom in on questions of politics and the place of what the author calls the aesthetic act.  Students can expect to become familiar with the entire range of Borges's production, from his early vanguard years through his canonical stories all the way to his late return to a certain neoclassical sobriety.
