Being an effective leader is one of the fundamental responsibilities of almost all hospitality managers and also plays a critical role in managing organizational change. In this course, students learn about their leadership styles, explore a range of effective and ineffective leader behaviors, understand the importance of both formal and informal leadership, and develop leadership skills. Instructional techniques will include self-assessment, lecture and discussion, case analyses, and experiential exercises.


Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: HADM 1150 or similar course.

Permission Note Enrollment limited to: SHA seniors only. SHA juniors by permission of instructor.

When Offered Fall (weeks 8-14).

Satisfies Requirement Course is strongly recommended for HLDP seniors.
