Course Description

This is the first of two courses that focus on the reading and translation of texts composed in bungo (literary Japanese), the official written form of the Japanese language until the mid-20th century. JPLIT 4406 introduces the fundamental grammar and vocabulary of literary Japanese. As such, this course is the prerequisite for JPLIT 4408 Readings in Classical Japanese.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: JAPAN 3302 or permission of instructor.
